Upstream Gates with Daniele Molmenti

After the Australian Open Sportscene we spent some time with Olympian Daniele Molmenti shooting a video about upstream gates. We covered 4 different techniques on the flat and wildwater, from different angles, in normal speed and slow motion. Also shares Daniele some of his insights and experiences with us.

This video is used by the international slalom community for coaching purposes and facilitates discussions about the different techniques.

Queensland Squad preparing for the Sprint Championships

Commissioned by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Australian Canoeing, Sportscene covered the Australian Canoeing Sprint Championships 2009 in Perth.

We set up a You Tube Channel (AustralianCanoeing) and published a news flash every day. Before the races commenced we visited the NSW and QLD Squads and published two news flashes where you can see them preparing.

Minister for Sport Kate Ellis visits whitewater stadium

Australias first male Olympic Canoe Slalom medallist Robin Bell led Sports Minister Kate Ellis in her whitewater initiation at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium to encourage a new wave of young athletes to the sport.

Minister Ellis wants her adventure on the rapids to inspire young athletes to try canoeing and consider a possible journey towards representing Australia beyond London 2012.

Sportscene covered this visit.
